Indira (Annie) Chandra is a successful business owner in San
Jose, California and has been recognised and honored for her
leadership and community service. Her emphasis has been on
achieving a balance between her responsibility to her
family/friends and her responsibility to her
community/world. To her living a meaningful life means
contributing and making a difference on issues of importance
such as poverty, disease, illiteracy, justice, and
empowerment of the underprivileged specially women and
children. Her interest and passion also extends to resolving
issues of global conflict. She believes that it is possible
to resolve these issues by focusing on the root causes. This
means creation of a shared vision and then exploring the
choices any community or nation has. Creating clarity of
purpose and awareness of the choices empowers people. As a
co founder of Coalition 2001 – Celebration of Unity in
Diversity, this is precisely what she did in the Bay area.
She has been a delegate to CA Democratic Party and runner up
nominee, National Democratic Party for the 15th
Congressional District. She has served two terms as
chairperson for the Santa Clara County commission on the
Status of women, amongst several other Boards and
Organizations. Additionally she is an active Senior Fellow
of the American Leadership Forum.
